About the Author...

Glenn J. Kashurba, M.D., is a nationally recognized Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has lived and worked in Somerset County, Pennsylvania since 1989.

Dr. Kashurba volunteered with the American Red Cross after the crash of Flight 93. He accompanied the heroes’ families when they visited the crash site in the week following 9/11. He then dedicated the next year to research, write and publish Courage After the Crash. All the profits from the book were donated to September 11th and children’s-related charities. His second book on the subject, Quiet Courage, the definitive account of Flight 93 and its aftermath, will be published later this year.

Dr. Kashurba is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Drexel University. He is a nationally known writer, speaker and advocate for children and families and has appeared in numerous TV, radio and print media across the U.S. and internationally.

Dr. Kashurba advocates nationally for children and families through his unpaid work with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). He is the Co-Chair of AACAP’s Workgroup on Consumer Issues (WGCI). This group of nine experts writes the popular series Facts for Families that is read each year by millions of families and professionals worldwide. On October 26, 2002, Dr. Kashurba was honored for his September 11th-related work with the prestigious Catcher in the Rye advocacy award at AACAP’s Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California.

On May 23, 2005, Dr. Kashurba was awarded a medallion and the title of Distinguished Fellow at the national meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in Atlanta, Georgia. Distinguished Fellowship status is the highest level of membership in the 36,000 member organization of national and international psychiatrists. Dr. Kashurba was honored for his many significant contributions over his nearly two decades of practice.

Dr. Kashurba maintains a busy consulting practice in addition to his writing, speaking and teaching. He lives in Somerset, Pennsylvania with his three children, Alex, Joe and Sophie.
